I believe that no matter where you are right now, that you can find your way to a colorFULLife. It’s my entire mission, in fact. I work every single day to help people find ways to fill their plates, hearts and lives with nutrient dense, delicious, colorful cookery, and enjoy the process of getting there. It’s not all or nothing in my house, it’s about cultivating realistic food and lifestyle habits to support your goals and needs while realizing those change, too!
I am a certified Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, but by no means “a picture perfect nutritionist”. I don’t expect to fit into a size 2, nor was that ever my goal. I strive to fill my colorFULLife with health, love, and experiences fueled by nutrient dense, delicious, colorful food.
After years of struggle, trial and error, severe food sensitivities, IBS, crippling bouts of hopelessness, fear and doubt, I’ve finally embraced a healthy relationship with my body that does not depend on a number on the scale – but a feeling of a life well lived balanced between feeling amazing and enjoying my whole life.
This ‘balance’ is often a game, teetering just a wee bit to one side and finding the way to re-center. It’s never going to be perfect, but it’s always yours to try, test, and manipulate. The beauty of this approach is having the tips and tools to recognize how and when you need to reevaluate and focus on what can serve you best in every phase of your life.
With all the things in this big world that I can’t control; I can harness love and respect for this perfectly imperfect bod, and you can for yours too. We’re here in this life to enjoy it all and I believe you can feel great while you enjoy all the things that make your life bright and vibrant.
I am in love with food, family and my life (in no particular order (but, I do really love food)). It was only a handful of years ago that I was crippled by depression, fear and self-loathing. My progress from then to present day more accurately resembles an EKG graph than a straight line to badass.
Like most things, I have to show up for, and recommit to momentum daily. This commitment is reinforced with the daily practice of healthy habits, honing in on mindset, and having help. That is why I am here. I want to help you get to live your colorFULLife.
I was on the sidelines of what could be mistaken for my life, smoking a cig and afraid to try for anything better. Despite having an incredible, handsome, and fabulous life partner, I was paralyzed by fear and felt undeserving. I was full of excuses as to why I couldn’t participate in physically demanding adventures (like gentle walks in flat woods). I was not confident on my own two feet, or in my own skin.
As Anais Nin so aptly put it, “…the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” I remember that day. It was hard, but I had help. My imperfect, but consistent efforts to show up for change got easier to muster.
It all started with healthy movement. Over the last 8 years I’ve gone from walking, to hiking, to elliptical-ling to cross-fitting, to presently using an app on my phone in my cold garage gym by myself. I rock out in the garage gym, working hard to build my strength and stamina. I am grateful for every single plump sweat angel I imprint as I peel myself off the floor. That’s how I show up.
After movement, then came food. I went from weight watchers at age 12, to disordered control/ binging behavior through my mid 20’s, trying all the weird diets and frankenfood protocols. I found Whole30 which forever changed my relationship to food.
Food had always been my obsession, but not in this way. I felt incredible. I had accomplished what I’d always assumed was an impossible feat, and felt inspired to run with it. I sunk my teeth into every nutrition book I could get my hands on and set off to cultivate the healthiest and happiest life I could.
I was driven toward my purpose to help you, help yourself. I’ve spent the last several years in school as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, taking culinary classes, and becoming a Certified Whole30 Coach. I want to give you the nutrients your body needs and make it taste damned good. While I do share recipes, recipes can only get you so far. I empower people to have confidence to get in the kitchen and whip up something beautiful using what you have, no recipe needed. Getting proper nutrition is life changing, but is actually sustainable because food is delicious, not just nutritious.
Let’s work together to build a life FULL of good food and experiences.
